SGT Amanda Jackson is a native of Denver, CO.  She joined the Army at 19 years old in 2004 and attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC.  Her first assignment was with the 40th Public Affairs Detachment out of Fort Campbell, KY.  Her time here was spent on disaster relief…she ended up producing stories under the “All-Americans” in the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged heart of New Orleans.  SGT Jackson spent nearly a month in an airport hangar, living alongside Paratroopers, and realized she belonged in the 82nd.  So not more than two months later, she ended up in the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, and deployed six months later to Tikrit, Iraq.  Deploying for fifteen months was a life-changing experience and taught her patience, hard work, and dedication, which she applies to her job now.  SGT Jackson is the noncommissioned officer-in-charge of T.V. here at AFN Hessen, and has fallen in love with the staff and the job.  To her, the job is a chance to express herself passionately and tell the story of her comrades in an interesting and fresh way.
