SSG(P) Nick Hobbs
AFN Hessen Station Commander
Originally from Orlando, Florida, SSG(P) Nick Hobbs joined the Army in 1998 and attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He then learned the craft of Broadcast Journalism at Advanced Individual Training at Fort Meade, Maryland. His first assignment took him to AFN Balkans in Tuzla, Bosnia. SSG(P) Hobbs was then sent to AFN Bavaria in Vilseck, Germany from 2000-2002. Italy was next, with an assignment at AFN Livorno, where SSG(P) Hobbs was stationed from 2002-2005. He then attended Drill Sergeant School at Fort Benning, Georgia from May-August of 2005, and an assignment as a Basic Training Drill Sergeant followed at Benning from 2005-2007. SSG(P) Hobbs arrived in Wiesbaden, Germany in October of 2007. SSG(P) Hobbs is a graduate of various Army schools. Unit and Organizational Supply Training, Warrior Leader Course, Drill Sergeant School (with honors), Combatives Level One and Level Two training, BNCOC (with honors), Airborne School, Combat Life Savers Course, and Unit Prevention Leader Training. He is also currently taking college courses through GoArmyEd at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. SSG(P) Hobbs is married to the former Tasha Vasquez of Kissimmee, Florida. He and his wife also have a beautiful two-year old daughter, Alyssa. During his off time, he spends a lot of time with his family and loves to work out at the fitness center. He's an avid sports fan, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Florida Gators, Chicago Cubs, and the Orlando Magic being his favorite sports teams.
