It's that time of year again when solar flares may disrupt your AFN satellite viewing. Sun "outages" may occur from October 1-11. Depending on the severity, an outage may last 5-20 minutes. This is temporary and programming will resume as normal.

Nine Soldiers killed during an intense attack in Afghanistan last week are being remembered at their home station in Vicenza, Italy. The Taliban assault on US Forces was the deadliest in the region since 2005. SPC Joe Tolliver has more from a memorial service for the fallen.
